Mapping of Bowness, 2019
Animation
Mapping of Bowness is about exploring symbols we assign to our own neighborhoods and how objects or places create personal maps. The audience explores Bowness, but as a result of the description used in the poems, the audience is equal to use their own bus stop or corner store from their memory.
Mapping of Bowness is experienced by walking into a dark room with an overhead projector shining a video on the floor in front of the audience. Entering, the audience will hear my voice coming from the speakers reading poetry. The poems describe my response to the landmarks shown in the video. Inspiration was gathered from exploring the community of Bowness in Calgary, AB, Canada.
Technical Requirements: Dark room, digital projector, and speaker.
